Absorbance, Circular Dichroism, FluorescenceThe CD 250 is a temperature-controlled sample holder designed for circular dichroism, featuring a flexible carriage system that accommodates a wide range of vessel types commonly used in these experiments. This carriage design allows for support of many vessels expanding its versatility beyond traditional setups. Standard cuvettes can be used as well, eliminating the need for a separate holder when switching between applications. We’ve also worked closely with customers to develop custom carriages tailored to their experimental needs. Since no carriage is included by default, be sure to add one to your quote. Available options are listed under the Accessories tab.
In addition to absorbance measurements, the CD 250 supports fluorescence applications. Optical windows in the holder enable compatible carriages, such as the CARR/10x10F, to facilitate fluorescence detection.
Operating between -25 °C and 110 °C, the CD 250 ensures precise thermal stability through a Peltier-based heat exchanger with circulating coolant. It supports sample stirring at a steady, reproducible rate and allows for controlled gas purging at lower temperatures to maintain optical clarity and improve insulation. Whether for stable-temperature spectroscopy or temperature ramping experiments, the CD 250 delivers reliable performance.
For extended temperature capabilities, a high-temperature option increases the upper range to 150 °C but must be selected at the time of purchase due to key internal modifications. Like all Quantum Northwest sample holders, the qpod provides unsurpassed temperature control, ensuring stable hold temperatures within a fraction of a degree.
Control is straightforward with the TC-1 Temperature Controller, included with purchase. Users can set temperatures, stirring speeds, and ramp rates via the TC-1’s front panel or through T-App, Quantum Northwest’s optional control software. T-App provides features such as real-time plotting, scripting, and direct sample temperature measurement when paired with the Probe/10K sensor. Even without T-App, the TC-1 display provides a direct readout of sample temperature when using the Probe/10K.
The CD 250 integrates with a wide range of spectrophotometers. The standard model mounts easily to both imperial and metric optical breadboards, with additional models available for specific instruments. While the listed temperatures are consistently achieved during testing, they are not guaranteed in all environments or setups. Meeting the ideal setup conditions outlined in the product's manual is necessary to achieve specific temperature stages.
**The extended range applies only when all corresponding High or Low customization options are implemented. The higher limit is extended by the High Limit package option, and the lower limit is extended by the Low Limit package option.
