Discover the qpod 3: a temperature-controlled cuvette holder designed for laser absorbance or fluorescence spectroscopy. It features four optical ports, each positioned at a 90° beam path from the others, housed within a self-enclosed, light-tight chamber. External laser lens apparatuses can be attached to the enclosure, with lenses designed to connect to fiber optic spectroscopy instruments via standard 905 SMA connections. Available lens options include an absorption pack, a fluorescence pack, or a multipack containing both.
Despite being air-cooled, the qPod 3 delivers performance comparable to water-cooled models, maintaining precise temperatures from 0 °C to 110 °C. It uses thermoelectric temperature control with forced-air heat dissipation, eliminating the need for a water bath.
For enhanced cooling, the qPod 3 includes built-in water-cooling capabilities. While it ships as an air-cooled unit, users can extend the cooling range to approximately -35 °C by connecting an external water circulator—available at purchase or as a later upgrade. Like all Quantum Northwest sample holders, the qpod provides unsurpassed temperature control, ensuring stable hold temperatures within a fraction of a degree.
In redesigning the qPod 3, we not only eliminated the need for a water bath but also removed the external TC-1 Temperature Controller. All essential temperature control electronics have been miniaturized and integrated into the base of the holder, making the qPod 3 a fully self-contained system. It operates via Q-Blue, the included control software, which offers the same functionality as the TC-1 and T-App software used with other Quantum Northwest holders. This innovation gives the qPod 3 the smallest footprint of any holder in our lineup.
The qPod 3 comes in one standard model that mounts easily to both imperial and metric optical breadboards. The available configurations differ only in the included lens package—absorption, fluorescence, or a multipack containing both.
